Coal tar is a thick black liquid produced as a by-product of coal gas and coke manufacture. It contains benzene, naphthalene, phenols, and aniline, among other biochemicals. It's employed in both medicinal and industrial settings.

  1. Itching, scaling, and skin problems can all be treated with coal tar.
  2. It's used to treat dandruff and lice, and in medicated shampoos and soaps.
  3. Analgesic characteristics can be found in phenolic coal tars.
  4. Pavements, highways, and parking lot seal-coat products all use coal tar to protect and beautify them.
  5. Coal tar is a flammable substance. As a result, it is used for heating.
  6. Coal tar is one of the binders used in the graphite industry to make green blocks.
  7. Construction paints, synthetic dyes, and photographic materials all include coal tar.
