Multi purpose river project

A multifunctional project, commonly referred to as a multipurpose river valley project, achieves several objectives simultaneously. It is also possible to build a dam across a river that serves multiple purposes at once, which is referred to as a multipurpose project. It has a lot of advantages but also some disadvantages.

Advantages of multi-purpose river projects- Advantages of multipurpose river valley projects:
  • to build irrigation infrastructure and advance canal navigation
  • to protect soil and water resources
  • to generate hydroelectric electricity
  • to conserve water for possible future usage when there is a greater need

The multipurpose project interferes with the natural flow of water.
Streambeds become harder as a result of the significant silt it creates at the river's bottom.
