CONCEPT OF TRIGONOMETRY (त्रिकोणमिति)


The concept of Trigonometry is one of the important topics of the Quant Advanced maths section questions which are asked in competitive exams like SSC, Railway, and other state-level exams. You can expect 1-2 questions from this topic in SSC CGL Tier 1 whereas 4-8 questions in Tier 2. The difficulty level of the questions depends upon the approach you adopt in solving it and your practice. Some questions consume a lot of time in the calculation because of their complexity.

By using a right-angled triangle as a reference, the trigonometric functions or identities are derived: sin θ = Opposite Side/Hypotenuse. cos θ = Adjacent Side/Hypotenuse. tan θ = Opposite Side/Adjacent Side.

There are six trigonometric ratios, sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent. These six trigonometric ratios are abbreviated as sin, cos, tan, csc, sec, cot. These are referred to as ratios since they can be expressed in terms of the sides of a right-angled triangle for a specific angle θ.
