Factors of Soil Formation

Five important Factors affecting soil formation

1. The initial state of the solid matter that makes up the soil is known as the parent material.
2. Topography refers to the physical qualities of a piece of land, such as the location of rivers, mountains, and other features.
3. Climate refers to the characteristics of weather as they change through time in order for soil properties to develop. Precipitation, temperature, and storm patterns are all included.
4. Organisms - Organisms have a major impact on the evolution of soils. Animals, humans, and other smaller living things all fall within this category.
5. Time – Soil formation is influenced by the source material and topography. Organisms and climate are inextricably linked to the production of soil. Time is an ephemeral variable whose importance is a measure of the passage of time.

Soil formation process

The dissolution of rocks under particular environmental circumstances is the first step in the production of soil.
Water seeps through the rocks through fissures, especially during rainstorms. The water is subsequently affected by the outside temperatures, causing the rocks to expand and shrink.

There are four different types of soil:
  1. Clay soil
  2. Slit soil
  3. Sandy soil.
  4. Loamy soil
