The human brain has three major parts:
(a) Fore-brain
(b) Mid Brain
(c) Hind Brain.
(a) Fore-brain (CEREBRUM) – The forebrain is the most specialized/complex part of the brain.
Functions
1. Part of the brain that thinks
2. Maintain control over voluntary acts.
3. Memory storage — Save data.
4. HUNGER-ASSOCIATED CENTRE
5. Receives and integrates sensory inputs from numerous bodily parts
(b) The Midbrain
It links the hindbrain to the forebrain. It is the component of the central nervous system that regulates vision, arousal (alertness), motor control, sleep/wake, hearing, and temperature.
(c) Cerebellum, Medulla, and Pons – Cerebellum, Medulla, and Pons
Maintains Body movement is controlled by posture and body balance.
Controls involuntary behaviours such as salivation, blood pressure, and vomiting.
